When I first had mine in May of this year, I was sort of scared but happy to be gradually changing into a young adult. THIS IS WHAT YOU DO IF YOU GET YOUR PERIOD

When you get your period there are usually three situations that you are in. One, you are at home and it comes. Two, you aren't at home and you get it, but you have a pad. Three, you get it and you aren't at home with no pad.

1. If you get it at home with a pad or no pad, get your mom. Don't be afraid to tell her because, she had to go through the same thing. If you don't have a mom then tell a older sister or your father if you have no other choice. If she doesn't have pads, then roll up toilet tissue about 5 times around your hand, then stuff it in your underwear flat. The best thing to use, is a pad when you have your first periods. They are easy and they are worry-free. Tampons can get to far deep, and you have to pull them out. Blah! Pads don't show through your pants, so don't worry!

2. If you are at a school, then tell a woman teacher. Or you can calll your mom and tell her. She will guide you through what you need to do. The teacher will most likely have pads or tampons with her, so don't be afraid to ask. If no pads or tampons are available then go to the restroom and wad up toilet paper around your hand and put it in your underwear flat.

3. Same goes for here. Wad up toilet paper and put it in your underwear flat.

Cramps-
When you start your period, there are some things that happen to your body. You get cramps, a aching just below your bellybutton. Only take 1-2 tylenol or painkillers a day for your period cramps. Sometimes they can make it worse. You also might change moods quickly. One minutes you may be picking roses and dancing around the room, and the next you might walk around with a pug face on, yelling at people. That's normal. Just think before you speak. You also may experiance your period flow, going from large amounts of blood, to small amounts. That is also normal. That's your body trying to get used to your new period. It should have a normal blood amount of 2-5 tablespoons of blood after about 5 months.

Pads-
Pads are the white flat and long stripe of cottony tissue the you put in your underwear that holds the blood. There are big kinds that hold alot of blood, called maxi extra large. Or there are small thin kinds called.. well.. thin pads! There are also sleeping pads. These hold your blood while your sleeping so you don't have to get up and change them. get maxi large pads when you start you first period, these hold your blood while your sleepings and in the day. Change your pad every 6 hours. If you run of of pads and you can't get any at that time, then wipe the excess of the pad with a toilet paper and use that pad only as much as needed. Change as soon at you aquire new pads.

Tampons-
Tampons are the ones that are long thin and in a cylinder shape. They have a string at the end of them that once you change them, you pull the string and it will come out. Now there are some advantages and disadvantages. The advantages, you can swim with tampons. You can do most excersize with tampons.
You also can't feel them as much. Disadvantages, they can get too far shoved up there, you have to find the string and pull it out. Talk to your mom about this one. Also if you leave them in to long, you can get PMS. Talk to your mom also about this one.

So good luck, when you start your period. Your period is a blessing from God. He made this and when you get it, don't think of it as a annoyance or something wrong, stand proud and be stronge, knowing your turning into a woman!

PS Your period can start from as early as 10 all the way to 16. If you still don't have your period after or before these times, call a docter.

But advice to young girls who dont/cant tell there parents dont use tampons at least not the first couple of times, use pads. another thing if you have no idea what i period is ASK your parents , this way when you get it will be easier to tell them o by th way im 13 :)

I think I first got mine on Christmas day, about, three years ago. I was 13, I think. I don't think I had gotten my cramps, yet, though. I, probably, told my Mom, about, right after I got it. She knows what to do.

She held up a pad. "YUP!" I grbbed it and walked into the bathroom, then left. When I look back on it I think of it as a pretty funny experience. When I was walking home from school my throat started hurting so I called my mom on my cell and was like "Can you come pick me up?" "Ya sure I just got done at Target" She NEVER shops during the day. So when she picked me up and we got home.. she was doing the dishes and I was sitting at the table talking to her. Then say "Hey mom..." About to tell her about school and such. And she said "Tell me later I have to go do something for work!" And just rushed out of the kitchen. I thought she was being SOOOOO rude!!!! Then she comes in my room later while I'm watching TV and had this small basket of all this pretty fancy girly stuff and panty liners and a card. It was like... not fun. I'm not a very "this will be a moment you will remember forever!" kind of person. So I didn't like that she brought so much attention to it and congratulated me for it. But.. I got free nail polish and other stuff! So it worked out. I'm 12 now. And periods suck. A lot.

i don`t remember exactly when was it, but i was at home, and it was very early, like six or seven am.
and i was with my mom, and i told her (we have a great mom-daughter relationship) and she helped me, and i was i little like: "what a....¿?" haha.

I started my period October of my sixth grade year. I have to admit i freaked out about it. I hadn't talked about it with anyone and then i go to the bathroom and BAM!!!! there is blood. So she was kinda mad about it and my friends were surprised. i was the first in the group to start. My good friend hannah didnt start til late in our 8th grade year. they always say that heavier girls start earlier. I only weigh 128 but compared to my friends who weigh like 105 thats heavier. Honestly starting your period is over rated.

my bff had ur period right b4 my bday pool party. she was so moody and she told everyone in our homeroom on monday that she got it. then the boys saw that we were whispering about something they wanted to know. we all told them that her bunny died and then my bff started crying so they would think it was true. it didnt take much cuz they dont have any brains but then she ended up screaming at them so they would shut up. now at that time everyone u want to stay away from her in the morning cuz she will b so moody and if u say anything that ticks her off she tries to drag u out of the classroom. never get too afraid about getting ur period it doesnt hurt too much and after awhile its no big deal and u get used to it.

Buy the american girl book "the body book" it tells u about PMS( which is kind of cramps headaches and crabyness) shows u how to insert a tampon and all that other stuff bout growing up. 2. search ur questions on google. 3. if ur real close with ur mom ask her bout it. 4.
