No, he shouldn't. I think it might be a rumor causse there is a lot of other disney stars up for the plate as new moon characters. In the book it clearly states that Jane and Alec have pitch black hair and have evil smirks on thier faces. It doesn't fit!
I think that he would be good if Dakota Fanning does it because they look alike. You would have to dye their hair a dark brown and cut Dakotas. They are both pale, I think it would work. Why not?

I love Lucas Grabeel but i pictured Jane and Alec a bit younger and petite than Lucas is. Dakota would be perfect as Jane though!
